Elisa Gonzalez

Elisa Gonzalez is a poet, essayist, and fiction writer. Her work appears in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, and elsewhere. Her debut poetry collection, Grand Tour (FSG, US; Penguin, UK), was named one of the best books of the year by The New Yorker. Grand Tour received a 2024 Whiting Award, a 2024 Literature Award from the American Academy of Arts & Letters, the 2024 Levis Reading Prize, and was a finalist for the 2025 Kate Tufts Discovery Prize. The recipient of a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award, Gonzalez has also received support from Macdowell, the Norman Mailer Center, Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, Rolex Foundation, Civitella Ranieri Foundation, Hawthornden Foundation, and U.S. Fulbright Program. She has a novel, The Awakenings, and a nonfiction book, Strangers on Earth forthcoming. Her books are being translated into ten languages.
